ZeroTier Announces RC3 of ZeroTier Quantum, Bringing Fully Quantum-Secure Networking into SaaS, Sovereign, and Air-Gapped Environments

ZeroTier, one of the world’s top software-defined networking companies, today announced Release Candidate 3 (RC3) of ZeroTier Quantum, the world’s only software-defined end-to-end quantum-secure networking platform. The release marks the final production step towards full deployment, proving ZeroTier Quantum can deliver secure, quantum-safe connectivity regardless of customer’s deployment type, location, or desired privacy posture.

RC3 moves ZeroTier Quantum closer to production readiness through expanded flexibility, broader client support, stronger administrative controls, and continued testing and platform hardening. Organizations can deploy the platform as a managed service or in sovereign, self-hosted, and air-gapped environments. When it comes to defense, government, finance, critical infrastructure, and enterprise environments, flexibility means deploying quantum-secure networking in a way that fits existing architecture, security requirements, and operational needs, without a rip-and-replace approach.

“For security-sensitive organizations, like government, defense, and critical infrastructure management, where a network runs matters just as much as how it’s secured,” said Andrew Gault, ZeroTier’s CEO. “With RC3, we’re proving that quantum-secure connectivity can adapt to the environments organizations actually operate in. We have significant experience in this regard, and our customers can deploy ZeroTier Quantum across managed, sovereign, and isolated environments, including systems that never touch the public internet.”

Fully Quantum-Secure Connectivity Under Customer Control

Additionally RC3 represents a significant validation milestone for ZeroTier Quantum, strengthening the platform across not only deployment flexibility, but also security, access control, performance and operational readiness. The RC3 includes:

  • Quantum-safe cryptography built in: ZeroTier Quantum combines ML-KEM-1024 with optional P-384 classical cryptography in a configurable hybrid key exchange. ML-DSA-87 provides post-quantum digital signatures, while AES-256-GCM protects data in transit. Classical algorithms can be enabled or disabled based on customer requirements or as regulatory roadmaps change. Cryptographic identity and authenticated connectivity are enforced on each network packet end to end. The result is quantum-resistant connectivity designed to meet or exceed CNSA 2.0.

  • Increased flexible deployment options: Organizations can choose the deployment model that fits their operational and security requirements, from managed environments to sovereign, customer-controlled, and fully air-gapped infrastructure.

  • Expanded client support: ZeroTier Quantum supports clients for Windows, macOS, and Linux, with Android support for mobile environments.

  • Credential-based enrollment: Administrators control which devices can join an environment through credential-based authentication.

  • Controlled software delivery: An authenticated, dedicated delivery portal provides entitlements and access to the full suite of ZeroTier Quantum required for a customer’s deployment.

  • Audit event generation: The platform generates administrative and security events, establishing the foundation of expanded auditing and observability.

Together, these capabilities move ZeroTier Quantum well beyond core functional validation and continue to establish it as a ready high-performance, highly secure, and flexible networking platform.

“We’ve been very deliberate in our development of ZeroTier Quantum around real customer requirements, both real-world networking challenges and regulatory roadmap pressure. RC3 is already in use with live customers with strict requirements around cryptography, isolation, and/or control,” said Robert Stevenson, ZeroTier’s Chief Commercial Officer. “What we’re seeing is demand for quantum-secure networking that organizations of all sizes can deploy on their own terms, within their own environments, while still preserving the integrity of their years, even decades of prior work.”

A Major Step Toward Production-Ready Quantum Security

RC3 also marks a major validation milestone for ZeroTier Quantum in terms of production hardening. Beyond NIST cryptographic review workstreams, the entire platform has undergone protocol, and code audit validations. Both technical and end-user quality assurance are also well underway.

This release coincides with June’s White House Executive Order 14412 which accelerates the U.S. federal transition to post-quantum cryptography, with agencies already facing near-term requirements to assign migration leadership and develop plans for moving high-value systems to PQC. Similar transition efforts are taking shape across Europe and other parts of the world as governments, regulators, and critical industries establish timelines for quantum-safe migration. ZeroTier Quantum offers a practical path forward, protecting communications with quantum-resistant cryptography while keeping control of where and how their networking infrastructure operates.
